Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Harley's funny eye, is it cause 4 concern?

Harley's always been bad for having sleep in the corner of his eyes, even before he had myxi, which I have to clean for him. Ever since he has had myxi tho this seems to be worse, he often has big clumps of sleep 'floating' on his eye which I have 2 take off, this happens perhaps every 2 or 3 days.

Also, the inner corner of 1 of his eyes seems 'wet' from the eye down to about a cm in 2wards his nose, the fur is sort of flattened.

At present I am jst cleaning it for him etc.

What could this be? Is it a cause for concern, should I be thinking about taking him to the vets? She did say that he may never be the bunny he was after having myxi & might have little things like this, so I don't know whether I should worry or not.

On a brighter note, I have noticed over the last week or so tht his breathing isn't noisy anymore (for those who don't remeber, he had scabs/scar tissue inside his nasal passages after the swelling due to myxi, which made his breathing very noisy. The vet said it may or may not clear up by itself, & as long he wasn't being distressed or affected by it jst to let it be) :D

It might be worth asking your Vet to check Harley's teeth. A chronic runny eye can occur when the nasolacrimal duct is blocked due to overgrown tooth roots.
Its great that his breathing is so much better :D

Hi Lucy, Samson has a simelar eye problem caused by the damage done when he had Myxi, theres not much i can do for Sams eye as the damages done was very bad and he does sit with it hal shut. I would get harleys teeth checked though just in case xx

Hiya Lucy,

My Saffron had this a while ago - i took her to the vets and it turned out to be conjunctivitus. I also have to clean 'floating' bits of sleep from her eye as well, but she has had a funny eye since birth.
