  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

just a bit worried...

Wise Old Thumper
about my two.

Holly/:
Holly was wheezing quite badly and isn't movinga bout much.
Baz: he has a red lumpy spot thing under his eyelid and his eyes are running constantly.

Are they gonna be ok?

K Hun, I think you really need to get Holly to a vet as soon as possible, and bad breathing is real worrying :( as for Baz, take him to the vet too but also contact the lady you've adopted him from, as she shouldnt have adopted him out if he was poorly :? I'd class Hollie as a real emergency though chicken :( X

Its going to be an emergency vet job on a sunday night. :(

Bad breathing is nearly always serious in a bun, if Holly's in pain then her intestines are more likely to stop working, causing even more probs

Fingers crossed they'll be alright :)

the only time i saw Baz's lumpy thing is when my friend pulled his fur back including his eyes (it was accidental) so I think that is notmal.
I just put Holly in her run and she binkyed and started scoffing pellets  her breathing was only bad after a run round the grass island so that might be why as her breathing is normal now. I will still take her to the vets
Baz's eyes constantly weep though

I would take both buns to the vet. If Holly's breathing is laboured then she really needs to go as an emergency.

Baz's weepy eyes could indicate a problem with his teeth, but that needs to be confirmed by a vet so I'll take him along to see your vet asap. Did Baz have a health check before he left the rescue? Do you know if they had a vet check his teeth at all?

I used to have a lionhead and they do tend to have quite squashed up faces, and this makes then vulnerable to dental probs x

Harley gets problems with his eyes too, his isn't dental related but it is worth getting it checked out anyway :D Hope the vets visit goes well... sending vibes!

Glad Holly is OK now :thumb: Naughty girl Holly, for scaring your mummy like that

These bunnies, they do like to worry us! :D
