when it is used for doormats is it treated?

the other day i saw a huge seagrass doormat looked just like the ones you get for bunnies just a lot bigger

any ideas?
 
A lot of the seagrass and willow products that are imported are sprayed to preserve them. I wouldnt risk it just to be on the safe side ;)
