New Kit
hi i have two mini lop rabbits and one of them has started to lick the other ear making it look sore but the rabbit don't seem to care.
Does anyone have any suggestions to stop the rabbit licking the other rabbit's ear?
Many Thanks

This is called "barbering" and I think it's fairly common. My rabbit China did it to her partner Rocket before she was spayed - have your rabbits been neutered? If not, doing so will probably help and is good for their health and wellbeing anyway.

Sorry that's not that much advice but I don't know much else - I'm sure some others will come along with some more suggestions shortly!

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

no they havent been spayed but why would getting them spayed help?

Spaying and neutering is a great idea anyway as detailed in the article. But relating to this specific problem of barbering, barbering can be made worse by higher hormone levels (i.e. in un-neutered bunnies). For example, China used to barber Rocket a lot before she was spayed and her hormone levels were high. After she was spayed, the problem disappeared.

Hope that helps! :D
