on average how much does neutering cost ?

Is it a spay or a castration, and which part of the country are you in? I think £40-£50 sounds very good - I pay £50 for a castration and £60 for a spay. But what's FAR more important is that the vet knows what they are doing. PLEASE don't go on the price alone, ask the vet about their success rates, experience of doing the op, post-op care etc. If it is inadequate, go somewhere else! :)

I pay £54.50 for a neuter and £68 for a spay. Prices vary so much, but the experience of the vet is paramount.

Is that the same as BARCs vets? If it wasnt for the commute/i could drive I certainly would.

Thegaffer- Your not paying mch different to me. My vets are excellent with buns and i have spent loads there in the last few months but the manager is stil reluctant to give me a discount. If it was up to Anita though I wouldnthave to pay a penny

Yes it's the same as BARCs. There's a really rabbit savvy vet at one of their branches - I don't always use her, but she's been good when i do :D

Is anyone from ARC available for comment ?

Donna mentioned that their vet is very sympathetic to rabbits, so just wondering if it was worth me going their to ensure good service

Jane as you have had your boy done recently any comment ?

I'm very lucky, my vets only charges £28.80, with painkillers, anti-biotic and the op (and a free nail clipping!)

I looked at a few places round my area, they were the cheapest. The vets my parents were registered at charged £50 but were very vague about how the operation and answering questions I had. Another palce charged £60 and seemed very nice, but as I could get the other one cheaper...

My vets is classed as an 'animal hospital' so specialise in operations and have junior vets there, which some people might not like. But i always figure a new vet is going to be more careful that someone who's done it many a time.

I had my girls speyed today and it was £30 including VAT, antibiotics and 2 post op checks (I hope they are included anyway) However... They did charge me £8 for claw clipping

My boys cost me about £38 to be castrated.
