Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can you tell if a doe has been neutered?

I would imagine (having seen some 'decended' plums on here  ) that you can tell if a buck has been neutered, but is there any way to be certain with a doe?

I got Asta from a rescue and wholeheartedly believe that she was neutered before she came to me, but it did occur to me that when does change homes, do we just have to 'beleive' the previous owner?

I don't think there is anyway to tell without a scan or something?
I have a rabbit off the freeads that was a stray someone found. She had a shaved belly at the time and they left her with their entire buck ( ) for some time so we can only assume that she was spayed at some point.

Thanks for your replies.

As I said, I beleive the resue lady that told me my bunny had been spayed, I just wondered whether there ways any way to tell. I could see that an 'inherited' bunny would be hard to pair if you were worried that the doe might not be spayed, but it would also be unfortunate to send her for a spay she didn't need :?

Again, thanks for answering,

Liz

Don't know, but if you shaved her tummy you might be able to see the scar :? - seems a bit drastic, but not as drastic as cutting her open for a look.

apparently the scars heal so well it's impossible to tell! I got toffee and caramel from the freeads and was told they were spayed but I'm not convinced as they're quite territorial and get very unsettled when one of my females goes near their run doesn't bother them when the males do though :?

If the rabbit was neutered by the rescue, you can check up with their vet using the rough date and description of the rabbit. They will obviously have to keep records of this.
