Gums growing over back teeth...

hi I think I read about this somewhere on here but now can't find it. Have just taken Thyme to the vet along with Damson (who is being castrated) and took Thyme to have her teeth checked. I clip her front ones every couple of weeks as they grow really qucikly but wanted to have her back ones checked for spurs, which I have done every couple of months. The vet said there were no spurs but it did look as if the gums were growing up over the teeth. Advice please!!!!! :?

Nicola3's Bun Harvey has this problem

I dont think it is considered to be a good idea to clip Rabbits teeth as it can cause damage to the enamel/roots. Burring with a specialist device is a better method and a Rabbit with Incisor malloclusion often does better with the incisors removed all together.

I dont know if problems with Incisors means that gum over-growth of Molars occurs..... :?

I clip them because she gets really stressed going to the vets so it was the best option. However I am now contemplating having them removed as they are re-growing so fast. I agree its not the best treatment but at the time it was a better option for Thyme. I had a boyu who had his front teeth removed and he was fine so I may take this root with Thyme. Considering one of the top ones has also come out at the root they aren't the strongest teeth either! Thanks Jane.

Hi Buttons and Thumper just wondered how your bun is and whether your vet has found out any more re: gums growing.

Hugs,

Nicola and Harvey xxx
