You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Agitated Bunnies

Morning folks! :) Furby obviously slept where I was hoping she would as the sleeping area was flattened this morning when I checked on her. I managed to contain myself and didn't go out till 7.30. I left the hutch door open and she ventured out very warily. However, Floss and Bournville whose hutch/run is abutted next to Furby's, realised she was there and they went berserk..thumping and rushing around. Bournville chased floss upstairs..and this wasn't their normal play mode..he was very aggressive. , which is totally out of character for such a laid back old gentleman!! Floss is now upstairs hiding in the carrier and he is back down tracking Furby's movements. Normally F&B would have been transferred to the garden run by now but I wonder if I should leave them where they are today so the get used to another rabbit next door. I've no qualms about leaving them there today as it is a big run/hutch with total floor area of 45 sq ft. All advice/reassurance welcomed :D Furby seems more relaxed today and was sitting outside grooming herself. I've taken some photos and will post them this afternoon.

I'd leave them where they are but keep a close eye on Floss and Bournville. There should not be a problem as long as Floss continues to accept that 'B' has to be in charge of checking out the new Doe on the block
But later you may find Floss venturing down and she may try to chase B away. Thats a time to keep an extra special eye on things to ensure that a fight does not break out between Floss and Bournville.

Sometimes the addition of a new bunny just in vicinity can upset even bonded pairs - looks like this is what is happening here!

Can you give some separation between their living areas? Might be an idea to give Floss plenty of hiding places in the run. If they get too agitated, I'd be tempted to let them into the garden run to chill out.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice. I can slide a screen between the two runs. Would that be OK? Or should I just move the run further away so they can still see each other? F&B are now sitting upstairs together and were grooming each other so perhaps things might settle down. Meanwhile I'll put them out in the garden for the rest of the day.

I put F&b out on the front lawn and put Furbie in the run on the back lawn as I wanted all of them to enjoy what's left of the sunshine! F&B settled back into their usual routine of grazing, dozing and a bit of mutual grooming. It took Furbie about 5 minutes before she plucked up the courage to venture onto the grass. Rog and I spent the nex 15 mins or so watching her whizz about, in and out of the little 3' hutch, under it, and then she did a bit of periscoping trying to suss out whether she could get on top of it. Unfortunately my small run is only 28" high so there's not enough headroom for her to jump on top of the hutch. But the best of all was when she did two mini binkies! We moved the run back onto the patio after 40 minutes or so as I didn't want to let her graze too long as I'm unsure if she's used to nice fresh grass. I'll know tomorrow I expect. I'll put up some photos in the Photo forum showing the layout of the two hutches etc. I've had to remove the foxproof cage that fits over the chickenwire run as it plays havoc with the photographs. It's in place over F&B's run so you can see what I mean.. Meanwhile any more tips re socialising these bunnies(not bonding) would be welcome Do you think the runs are just too close together?
