  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

zeb seems really subdued

well zeb had his vhd vaccine yesterday and was really perky last night

he seemed a bit off colour this morning but he ate his breakfast before i went to work - he had a few squidgy poos in the night but i know that is quite normal after vaccs

tonight his litter tray is full of normal poos but he seems really down, is just moping around rather than binkying

he's been sneezing since sat but the vet says its just stress and theres no white discharge. he didnt really sneeze much yesterday but now he's sneezing quite a lot again - but no white discharge

do you think its just the side effects of the vacc - he's only 9 weeks old and quite runty so maybe he's just having a bad time of it

what do i need to do? i'm keeping him warm (he lives indoors anyway) and making sure he drinks and eats plenty. his appetite doesnt seems as good as normal but he is eating

thanks

my little boy is still pretty quiet this morning but is eating ok

he has a little limp in his front left paw (as you face him) which i know is sometimes a side effect from teh vaccine

he is still sneezing (but still no white discharge) - there doesnt seem to be any change in frequency from yesterday

should i just keep an eye on him or do i need to take him back to the vets??

thanks

Maybe you could ask your Vet about giving Zeb some Metacam for a couple of days. If he has a post VHD Vac' limp he will be in a bit of discomfort which may be why he is quieter than normal

What sort of sized bunny is he? Maybe he's a bit overloaded, we dont vaccinate until 12 weeks for bunnies. I had thought that was the recommended thing with the manufacturers for Cylap but maybe I'm wrong?

he's quite dinky but i guess thats cos he's young - he should be medium sized when full grown

never had any probs at this vets before and i trust her with all my bunnies - think we've just been unlucky - i had frida vaccinated at 10 weeks and she was ok

he's booked in for 6.50 tonight (o my poor bank balance) so hopefully he may perk up soon :)
