Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
Eddie used to love My Rottweiler, Gun, they were good friends and used to have the run of the garden together.

Sadly, I had to have Gun put to sleep last Sunday. Whilst Im devastated and not coping at all, Eddie is pining for a friend.
.....................................

Iv decided after alot of thinking that I can now afford another bun and would love to get Eddie a girlfriend. Thing is, I havnt got a clue how to bond, whare to get Eddie a friend or anything.

Is there such a thing in rescues as a bonding service. I know all you guys have managed it, but Eddies past life was so tuff and I would hate to ruin something as important as this.

Any advice greatly desperately needed.

Some resuces do bond bunnies for you. Whereabouts are you? I'm sure there'll be a rescue near you. Have you looked in the Rabbits in Need section on here?
I think it's lovely to get him a friend. My bonded bunnies are so happy together. It's lovely to see them snuggled up. And two doesn't really cost much more than one, nor take up more time. It's just really the cost of vaccs and any vet trips.
Sorry to hear about Gun

Im in Barnsley, South YOrkshire.

You are absolutly right, 2 buns dont cost much more than 1, it was just the vet bills, the vacs and things. I need to make sure that I can aloways afford the vet bills.
.....................................
Its realy strange, I never thought a Rabbit would miss a dog and especialy not one so big. lol

Have u thought about pet insurance for them? Im seriously considering getting, I was quoted around about £15 a month for my 2 boys, although this doesnt cover routine dentals or vaccs, but with harly having myxi Ive spent Id say in the region of £150 at vets recently, and that would have been convered. Fair enough Ive been in a position to pay that right now, with some help from my boyf, but I dread to think what may have happened if I hadnt....................................£3 per week seems a lot less than having to put him to sleep cuz I cant afford a big vets bill all at once :)

Hi is Eddie Neutered? and if so how long ago was he done?
If he is then I'm sure he'd love a girlfriend....what is his accomodation? I have a lovely girl called Lulu who desperately needs a forever home and don't think there would be a problem getting her to you.....

Well long storey short, I was going to loan a hutch from a work colleague, looks like that has now gone out of the window.
............
Eddie is in a 6x4 shed with the run of a large Garden, all nice and secure.
.................................

Im desperate to get him a wifey, he seems realy lonely now Gun has gone, he never realy seemed that bothered before but looks all sorry for him self now.

Your best bet is to talk to members here who run a rescue house for rabbits. And they have to recommend a rabbit that they really know the bunny's character.

I had a theory (turns out to be wrong) that a bunny is tame if she lets me hold her for a while. So w/ Goofball, I go to this place to pick her up, she's about 2 mth. old, and she let me hold her for easily 1/2 hr. But months later, she is used to this house, she gets cranky, quite a contrast as to how tame she used to be back in day 1. So you need some rescue house who spent a lot of time with a particular female bunny, and knows that bunny is a tame bunny to get along with.
