Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

EMERGENCY!!!!! HELP PLEASE RE TREES BUN MARLEY Sad news :o(

loopylop

Wise Old Thumper
PLease help

Trees bunny marley has been to vets and is very poorly, his tum is really big and hard, vet has given him a pain killer and said its not bloat and that he is really poorly and that she needs to keep him warm and get fluids in him

What else can she do please help

Tree is devastated, she said he won't move or eat, was fine this morning his legs are like they are paralysed

OMG this is awful

Oh dear, just what she needs on top of her chest infection. I don't know what else it could be. Could there be water accumulation? It can only be water or gas. Is he showing any other symptoms? Poor thing. :(

Does he have diarrhea or no poo at all? Does he feel hot? Or is it maybe a blocked bladder or kidney stone problem? Could be a lot of things probably. :(

Oh no! He won't be able to move if his tummy is that big and bloated up - whatever the vet has said he has some kind of bloat, be it a blockage or something - for the tummy to go rock hard and swell it is bloat of some sort :(
Try reading some of this http://tinyurl.com/yhtgct

Has Marley had Infacol? Can Tree get any water down him at all? Are his legs alright but he is just refusing to walk due to pain?

To be honest I would have to get a second opinion from another vet as this is so bad - he would need sub-cut fluids and if it's bad gas he would need to have a tube passed into his tum to try and get the gas out :(
If it's a blockage then he would need an x-ray to find out where it was and what it was :(

Please get Tree to ring the vet again for more advice - he needs nursing and vet care by the sounds of it :(

Am sending loads of vibes to him - and calming and strong ones to Tree

Thank you Jay,

Tree did say that he had had a subcut of fluids whilst at the vets and had quite a bit.

Thank you ever so much Jay, I will call her and pass this on,

Thank u again xxxxxx

Tree is trying to get him to another vets,

Jay, Tree said he won't put pressure on his legs if you stand him up. Its from pain of his tum as vet said there were no spinal injuries.

Tree is trying to get food and fluids into him,

COME ON MARLEY!
