Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Poppy injection question

Warren Scout
hi guys

Poppy is going to get injected tomorrow, on the advice of the vet to aviod problem that Bugsy had.

He died of a heart attack,     but was v ill the 2 days before, after first being told it was underweight and just needed feeding up , to : him having a gut/bacterial problem and septercemia (sp!)

i asked if there was a risk poppy could get this, and he said yes, but cant tell as its a bacteria that is inside every rabbit and if conditions are right, will grow and poison the bunny.

i asked if i can avoid this with poppy and he is giving her an injection 2morrow that is not normally 4 bunnies, but for sheep :? :?

is this right? has anyone heard of it? Tree, if you are on here could you tell me a better more knowledgeable bunny vet by us to go to?

shes booked in for 6.40pm will get them to write the injection on her card so i know

any ideas??

I think you need to ask:

1-What EXACTLY is the injection

2- What EXACTLY is the 'gut bacteria'

3-How can Vet be CERTAIN that Bugsy had Septicaemia and what caused it unless a PM was done

Personally I would consult a Rabbit Specialist

Good luck and I hope Poppy remains well

Hi,

I really love my vets but I think they are a bit far from you.

Powis & Partners in Amblecote. Maybe Tree's would be a lot closer to you?

She is off work today and tomorrow but she will reply to you on Wednesday :thumb:
