  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What should hocks look like?

Question from a bunny novice!

But just managed to get the buns briefly on their backs for the first time to do underneath/foot check and noticed they both have little pink lump on heels, is this what hocks normally look like on close inspection or could it be start of sore hocks?

Bunnies do have a hairless circle right on their heel usually it's got thick fur across it abit like a comb over :)

Phew :)

Thanks! Just wanted to check, not had close look at feet since Jill brought them over!

I think they have fallen out with me for turning them over though :( They won't come out from the corner of their cage at the moment, despite offering their evening veg and a little bit of banana as a special treat to make up for it...

I knew they wouldn't like it but I thought I'd better get round to having a check.

I hope they are my friends again soon... :?

Awww, I'm sure they'll forgive you soon :) They can really sulk when they set their minds to it!
