Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

From Hot to Cold

Pickle has been indoors for about ten days due to neutering/stitches etc (as advised by vet) but am aware he needs to get back to his real house outside. The weather has gone from extremely mild in October to freezing in November!!!

How can I make the transformation to outside again without causing him too much stress?? Am worried he wil feel the cold - he has been outside for a few hours in his hutch/run this afternoon, but think it best I bring him back in for the night (as will be much colder than he used to and cos of fireworks).

I have filled his hutch to the ceilings with hay  and also made a little hidey hole with a cardboard box with small entrance filled with hay too :D

Hoping to have him fully returned to outside life by Monday/Tuesday evening!! :)

If he's been outside the rest of the year I would think that he's already groeing his winter coat. Mine are getting there winter coat now, Millie's still got lots to come through and Oscar and Billy's hutch is full of fur but they all seem warm enough. I'm sure he'll be fine rabbits are really hardy animals. As you have given him loads of hay etc. i'm sure he'll be fine. When Billy had his castration I kept him indoors for a few days and he was totally fine when he went back out.
Hope this helps x

I do belive that it gonna be a warmer week next week, so you could wait till then. :D

Ive bought a Snuggle Safe frm pets at home for when I have 2 put Harly and Honey back out, and a fleecy blanket 2 tack 1 hutch under tarpauline so will b e all cosy and draft free.

yep I was thinking wait till next week too as its supposed to be milder I'd be worried about the extreme difference at the moment!

Well I have put him outside in his run/hutch today. Doesnt seem so cold at the moment here. I will bring him in tonight and then off to the vets tomorrow.

I have also covered his hutch in tarpauline to keep rain/wind out as much as possible.

Think he will be alright. But must get a snuggle safe thingy!!
