boarding for house rabbits?

Azraelm

Wise Old Thumper
When we eventually go on holiday (nothing planned) I think i will have to put the buns into boarding.....but im a bit worried as ive never seen anywhere that does boarding for house rabbits :?

I suppose it wont matter if its summer, but what do people do in the winter?

I board mine at a place that takes 1 single or a bonded pair of houserabbits. They get to hang out in her dining room and are utterly spoilt. She's fantastic but in Barnsley, a little too far for you maybe?

Hi Mandy, I've had this problem too. I've got them booked in somewhere but I'm really worried about it and have emailed the lady regarding this (it does look like a great place) Basically they will be in a cage in a shed. I'm going to get them snuggle safes and vet bed. Its over the Cristmas period so will be fairly cold. I've looked everywhere so it is a last result. There just doesnt seem to be anywhere round here.

Hiya we specialise in providing boarding for house bunnies :)

Best wishes
Adele and the 37 sanctuary bunnies

Well if its not for too long you could bring them to me :D I know how hard it is to sort out care for your precious babies...we just had a nightmare this weekend in fact

I usually have a friends daughter who comes in 2/3 times a day, feeds and waters, checks them over and changes the litter trays. Well she has now reached 18, and looking after someone elses pets (even though I paid her) was just not her idea of a good weekend

Instead I had arranged for the girlfriend of my brother in law to do it, they come over often, know all the bunnies, and she has seen me cleaning them out several times, so knows what to do, she would only be able to come in once a day, but would stay for about an hour to give all the bunnies (indoor and outdoor) chance to stretch their legs...not a perfect solution but it was only for the weekend, and at least they would be safe, and at last minute there was not much other choice.

Fine, so I thought until we came home today
I have never, ever, ever seen my rabbits home looking so messy, and so smelly too, apparently my (well intentioned I am sure) father in law said that he would do it instead..well he's not an animal lover, he won't even touch them  so instead of following my carefully written out instructions he has just chucked some pellets in and filled up the water bottles. He obviously intended to change the litter trays but didnt, so the ltter trays were all on the patio leaving my usually well trained bunnies to poo and wee everywhere, it was disgusting, I was horrified. Well now I am in a predicament, I never want him to attend to them again, but how can I say it, well I think I will never be leaving them ever again.

sorry to hijack your thread   needed to get it off my chest to someone who would understand

Didn't know you did house rabbits Adele. Are they kept indoors then or in heated outdoor facilities

Adele -where about's are you based? We live in South Derbyshire and it would be useful to know some where we could take the bunnies if we needed to...

My three are house rabbits but they go to Cheryl's when im on holiday.. they stay in a big hutch inside a shed... one year they even stayed there in October and they werent affected at all. The sheds arent that cold and they always seem very happy there

You poor thing, I bet you went spare, I'd just tell him. I had the opposite when I left Pippa with my neighbour, with instructions to change the litter tray every other day and leave the hutch as I was only away for four days. Well she attended the buns 4 times a day and cleaned the whole hutch and litter tray twice a day (her house is spotless  ). Poor Pippa didn't know where to wee or poo and it took me weeks to get her litter trained again, plus the whole place stank of bleach :?

OMG I have literally spent hours on the internet looking for local ones...and they do indoor boarding! And its got a pretty website! Has anybody used these/heard anything about them?

I'll ditto tupperwarequeen's offer Mandy - if you need a sitter they are always welcome to stay at mine whilst you're away, Max likes to stay upstairs so they can have the conservatory and kitchen :D -( Plus if you dropped them off there's four young men who'd be happy to see you!! :D)

Thank you very much, thats really kind of you! :D

Aw, lovely beatles  How is Lenny doing?

By the way, the place at Derby looks really good. They sent me loads of stuff by email and they seem very professional.

I think that's where my bunnies-to-be will be spending Christmas.

Think it's up in the Strelley direction, but I don't know Nottingham very well myself.

I think it might possibly be the same one as my friend uses she really rates them but it is again a shed they are kept in...too chilly for my bunnies
