  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Trip to vets query?

I'm taking Pippa to the vets tomorrow - will it be ok if I leave MJ at home? He gets really stressed going to the vets and he doesn't need to be seen this time, but I don't want to upset their marriage by splitting them up. It will only be for about 30 mins maximum.

Hi Kathryn
MJ will be fine if truth be known I never take bonded pairs together if only one has to go and they are always fine. I know alot of people have different opinions on this but knowing MJ I know he will be ok. Good luck with Pippa, I really hope you can get to the bottom of this problem for her.

For a short period of time it'd be fine, although it's generally a good idea to take both, especially if it's all day, I do think you need to take the individual buns into account.

If I need to take Santa to the vets, I always take Dudley as well, because he is laid back and not bothered, and it helps her to settle. But if I ever needed just to take him, I wouldn't take Santa as well.

Hope all goes well tomorrow..

I had to take Alfred in when he'd been with Matilda for a week, I took him in by himself, as I thought Matilda had probably had enough changes in a short period of time, unfortunately he had to stay in overnight, I was really worried about putting them back together again - but it was absolutely fine..

(its was just weeks later when we had problems!)

Jx
