Giant Buns P@H

Ours isnt because we dont have enough room! It's because birds are not going to be sold in p@h anymore (not sure if its not just our shop) but i think they just need to fill the extra space and draw in new customers.
Annoyed me to think that they are only doing it for profit's sake, i'm glad our store is too small!!!
 
... oh yes (as above) they have got rid of the birds and this is where the new giants are located. My b/f couldn't believe it when he saw these massive ears poking up and went over to investigate.

A few of the birds were flying around the centre - obviously escaped!!!
 
where arent they selling birds anymore? i do hope mine doesnt, although i fear they will, i had to ZXx brough it that were purchased through that shop, i have keep both perminantly thought lack of interest for big bunnys... how are rescues going to deal with the after math of this :cry: :cry: :cry: especially the ones round here :cry: who dont home check so cant even tell what home they are going to go to... sice doing rescue i have sadly seen sooooo many gisnts kept in four foot hutches its so sad
 
Yeah thats what im dreading, because these new animals have been put on sale and no specialist hutches or care items have. I'm fingers crossed and hoping that something happens soon! If not i'll have to contact head office myself
 
I'm sure the novolty of purchasing a giant will wear off with a lot of P@H customers! Plus I'm really worried about suitable accommodation for such a large breed and although the store is getting better with the quality and size of their hutches, they are not ideal for giants!
 
Its DISGUSTING because they don't exactly sell the at least 7-8ft hutch (if a hutch at all) they require :cry: :cry:

I am meant to be going that way this weekend and might have a word. If they are supplying that sort of bunny ie huge they should be supplying said hutch. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Yup thats my concern, and i work there and havnt heard anything about new giant hutches in other stores. But it may be a different story in the shops that sell the giant breeds.
 
I went to p@h near me, last saturday. They had a BIG black bun there. I stayed and watched her/him for ages. They had care sheets and looked like the bun was quite happy. The price was £69. There was a deal that if the new owner brought a dog create for the buns own space as a house bun, they would get some money off the bun.

Who knows where any bun goes, once they are sold though. Thats why i hate working in a pet shop, because you just don't have a clue where they go.
 
The Brentford one is not to my aware. Dont think the Feltham one is either. which is ALL good for now!

i notice mine had one, first time i've seen any in there and i was quite horrified. i'm going to have a word with someone but i know its down to head office so many we should put a letter of complaint to them.
 
I saw one months ago (before I'd even heard that they were going to start selling them) in either Chelmsford or Colchester. :(
 
P@H are selling 7ft hutches to accomodate them. I just didnt hear about it cos were not selling them at our store, were getting chipmonks and chinchilla's instead. I better read up!
 
My local one has a giant bunny in, but they have a 'giant bunny hutch' on sale too. Maybe it's only in the stores that are selling the giants?

Either way, the hutch was mahoosive!

Yup i think thats it, we havnt had the super hutches or the giant buns in our branch. I've heard their living conditions are great though and they litter train them in store.

That's great they're selling them, and suggesting dog crates too. However they don't force people to buy them alongside bunnies, they should really have some homecheck policy for giant bunnies, maybe asking people to bring in photos of their shed, etc. And give people a link to this forum for advice and guidelines.

I've just been to my old local P@H today and they now have a 'resident' French lop in store. He is not for sale but they say that anyone who is interested can ask a member of staff and they will arrange to get them one.

I felt really sorry for him as he was in what I conside a tiny space :cry: The cage can only have been 2ft high and only about 4x6ft. He had one toy for stimulation and sawdust in his water bowl :( He was asleep in the dead pose so I guess he must've been either bored or happy :roll: :?
 
Mine P@H has,

he is in all I an describe as a small shed and he hides in his little house thing all the time, he is on his own and must be so lonely.

I had a word....... i know the manager in P@H really well at my local one and they are discussing him living with the manager (who is a lovely lady) at her house and he is there temporarliy....

went back in as i forgot my purse an hour later and he has gone, asked where and he was up in theior staff room free range (its true coz i went to see him) and they have requestd no more big buns as they are all worried about their welfare after they leave!!!
 
I didn't look where the birds used to be when I was last in P@H, I failed to find a bottle brush and then spent a while sadly looking at all the not baby any more rabbits wondering what was going to happen to them. I really hope they don't have giants there :? I'll have to go back :(
