The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Nell is not eating much after dental

Hi there. My bunnies Marcy and Nell were both sick over the weekend with GI stasis and both had dentals on Monday morning.

Well Marcy did so well and is pretty much back to normal now. However, Nell is not. She had a few sharp edges on her teeth this time, and had a spur burred 5 weeks ago too. After that procedure, she got right back to eating normally within a few hours. Not this time though. She has some appetite, only for veggies though. She is only sticking her nose in the hay and not eating it at all. She occasionally snaps it in half. She isn't interested in pellets. She is weeing and pooing (albeit small) and I am giving her Metaclopramide twice a day still. I am also giving her Infacol and Zantac and belly rubs as she still perhaps feels a little bit gassy. She is lying down a lot too so I'm giving her a dose of Metacam once a day. I have been syringe feeding her periodically.

What do you think is stopping her from eating hay? Should I be asking for an xray of her teeth to look for any other problems now? I did think that she was very slow to eat spring greens earlier on and it looked uncomfortable.

I am awfully worried about my Nell

Hi Fiona
I can totally empathasie with you, I am in the same situation with my bunnie. She had dental work yesterday and also has an infection in the root of her tooth which must be very painful. On some advice from the members on here, I grated the veggies and mixed them up, some cucumber, a few bits of greens and a little bit of apple to sweeten. She ate if off of a spoon. I moistened her pellets, although only a few were eaten during the night. She usually scoffs the pellets, she too hasn't eaten any hay either. Perhaps your bun is still in some pain? My bun is very quiet, just sitting there, although she showed excitement when I walked in with her "salad"

I hope your little Nell perks up soon. Isn't it a worry?
Best wishes
xx
