i have just taken lola back to the vets because although she had done a poo and had eaten, she looked so unhappy and just hunched up in the meatloaf position.i knew she felt rotten,so i took her in for more pain relief.on the way out as i was waiting to pay,a woman asked me if i had a poorly rabbit so i explained what she'd had done and said she had been given pain killers(you know what i mean)the woman said''TUT,pain killers for rabbits what ever next''i just thought :i'd like to see you have a hysterectomy without them you silly moo
anyway checkup for lola tomorrow evening.hopefully she might feel a bit better now.
do you know what else,i mean i can't complain cause they have treated her well but lolas spey cost me£130.not that i begrudge it but francis harcourt-brown is only 5 mins away and they don't even charge that much!!!i want to go to see her but have been put off as a few people have told me that her partner is horrid and you can't always get to see francis because obviously she is a busy lady.am i stupid??? :?
sorry for the long post guys.

£130 for a spey. that seems a bit high. but i suppose it depends on the area. I know they seem to change depending on which part of the country you live in. :(

£130 is extortionate. I can't remember how much I paid, but I think it was less than that for both of mine to be done.

Is it Frances Harcourt Brown?

If so and you can afford it STAY PUT :D

EDIT- IGNORE ME !!

Didn't read your post properly

I would go to FHB, you really couldn't ask for a better vet.

When Gus had a retrobulbar abscess our vet in Barnsley actually told us that she would prefer FHB to treat him so we made several trips out to Harrogate in the snow last Christmas. She even saw him on boxing day. And despite fears that he would lose his eye, she did a great job and he's still got both eyes.

You are lucky, like others have said, to have her so close.

I have absolutely no idea with regards to the vets but £130.00!!! :?: That is extortionate!! I know it depends on the area but how can they justify charging you that much?

When I lived in Reading I didn't even pay that much for Buster my big bullmastiff to be neutered (well I did but that was because he had a lumpectomy as well but the neuter bit by itself was just £120 for his weight - 45kg)!

It cost me around £80 to get Zeus done but that was with a rabbit specialist (not quite FHB but well thought of in the same circles) and mainly that was because he was a giant and the extra weight. I think it was about the same for Athena's spay but I was prepared to pay because he was a specialist - I wouldn't have paid it for an "ordinary" vet.
