  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

poor Amy: cream question

well i dont know if anyone can remember the post about the problems i was having with Amy and the water bowl?

Well she was getting in a mess with it, her ears and dewlap kept going in the water! :( I got her a Spaniel bowl now like someone suggested which is much better :D Only problem is now that she's dried off her fur where it was soggy is falling out in clumps and she has sore red flakey skin underneath :( I've put vaseline on to protect it a bit poor thing :(

She really needs a trip to the Vets as the skin may be infected (Fungal or Bacterial). Left untreated it can turn very nasty

Ok I'll try to get her in for friday as she has a nasty looking eye too! Its a nightmare at the moment, I have Fudge needing the vets for a skin complaint, Amy with her skin and eye and spey (if she's ever well long enough!), Splodge for Myxi, and Salt for neutering, and only one day off a week i can take them :?

I have some cream called Fuciderm an antibiotic cream for skin conditions, might this be a good thing for Amy's chin till i can get her to the vet?

well the closest vet appointment i could get was for the middle of next week, despite me claiming an emergency! I hate that new receptionist  I found out my vets on holiday this week anyway and the replacement is the one thats rubbish with rabbits that dropped Amy last time  .

I'm going to get my mum over so i can have a good look at her skin and maybe try some of fudges Fuciderm on it, and bathe the eye with cool boiled water and if its not looking any better on Monday I'll drive her to the out of hours hospital, but i didn't want to do that really cause its miles away and wont be my vet :(
