  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Awful diarhea (sp)

Poor Pooki has had awful diarhea (sp) for about a week now, I've taken his veg away, taken him off the grass and he still has it. He's eating and drinking ok and seems well in himself, but what can I do to clear it up?

Just a thought - I'm at work so can't look up symptoms etc, but is there a chance that this could be coccidiosis, it seems unusual that at least 2 of your buns have similar intestinal problems at the moment??

Please don't say that! Is it spreadable? Gorgeous hasn't been near any of my buns for about two and a half weeks, but it's something to check. Oh god please not another one!

What pellets do you feed? I'm trying to work out if Excel is giving Teddy excess caecos - are you feeding Excel or a different pellet?

a probiotic like bio lapis might help.
ground ginger is also benifical to rabbits with tummy problems. sprinkle a small amount onto thair pelleted diet (if they like the taste of course...)
Angelica and peppermint are also helpfull

If its been going on for a week you should take them to the vet, it not right but how bad is it do you mean soft poos or liquid poo. val
