Grrrr people make me mad

Gem

Wise Old Thumper

I was doing my shopping in ASDA last night, at the checkout the lady asked if my family liked Spring Greens (Had about 8 bags )

I told her it was for the rabbits etc, she went on to tell me about her daughters rabbits and how she was looking after it for a week while her daughter was on holiday.

She told me it was getting thinner and thinner so she took it to the vet, and its teeth had grown through its bottom jaw, clamping its mouth shut

Surely it would have taken longer than a week for the poor rabbit to stop being able to open its mouth :?:

She then went on to tell me, she asked about having it operated on and when she was told it would cost £150 she immediately said I'll have it PTS

After all it only cost a fiver to buy

Damn stupid people, after all that I didn't dare telling her how much I've spent on vets bills and operations for my rats :?

People like that make me sick
When i told people alfies op had cost me £130 they said god its only a rabbit id of had it put down,i said in that case then you shouldnt have animals

some people are horrid. they would never say it if it was a cat or a dog so why do they think its acceptable if its a rabbit.gggggrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhh

Thats just horrendous and makes me mad

So if her daughter had tooth problems and it cost a lot of money she would put her daughter to sleep ... I think not.

Poor wee bun

Stupid woman! I'd spend hundreds on my buns if they were ill! They aren't 'just rabbits'! It's so sad to hear thing like this

You can tell what people are like just by discussions with vet. One of my 7 weeks old babies was injured by her brother, & when I took her to vets, they suggested pts, because of the cost. It was only £106 (I could've done without it, but hardly a pts situation) :( He said cost of treatment would far outweigh the bun's value. :( They are Rabbit Savvy vets

We could always do without the cost but, our animal means so much more

Yeah sure I could have done with not spending £30 on Zena rattie when she had her teeth burred but those few extra months more than make up for it

omg thats disgusting!
I paid around £180 for 2 of my rats the other month, and would pay anything that they needed!!!

Gem that's awful, how on earth did you control yourself....I don't think I would have been able to

What the *****

I paid £200 when my bunny needed the vet at 3 in the morning, she had a stroke and died before the morning  I paid and didn't even get her back alive but I'd pay any amount so a bunnie wasn't suffering and in pain.

Some people...

what!!!!! i paid out without even thinking £250 for my guinea pig (pregnency probs, stupid pet shops sexing wrong, i know better now) and i still lost her. its a thing you do. you dont say, im not going to take my kids to see a specialist when theyre ill, ill just leave them to die, why do it with pets. if a poor student like me can devote all their money to pets, why the hell cant others. sorry rant over, it really gets to me when people are like that.

My mum's cat went missing and came home injured, her vet treatment cost about £500  but there's no way we would have had her PTS - she recovered so well, and is one tough kitty! :D

Some people really should not have animals.

I remember borrowing £100 off my Dad when I was a student at 17 so my first guinea pig could have his teeth sorted. It took me 6 months to pay him back but I didn't care.

My last bill for my bun was just under £100. I agree with previous posters - you can always do without the cost but at the end of the day when you take on a pet it means you have to take care of it when it is ill as well and that means being prepared for vet bills.

I'm down the vet all the time with my CKC spaniel - though my fault for buying the runt of the litter. Wouldn't have him any other way though :)

That's horrible! People are really oblivious to the suffering of rabbits aren't they.

I spent £200 on Dudley when he was looking a bit thin to get blood tests done and check there was no underlying problem - yep, eveyrone looked at me like I as mad too.
