word of warning about run panels...

bilbo

Alpha Buck
Ok well i put together the run panels that touie so kindly gave me and thought il put maisy in there...put her in..she bolted and her HEAD got STUCK in one of the rectangles of wire. i think she was scared by something and bolted. Thankfully she was ok..although i lost a panel in teh process as i had rto cut her head free..which wasnt easy as the wires thick and i have NO muscles watsoever  ( )
Other then that they are great..but i think ill just use it for bilbo as theres no way bilbo could get her head through them. by the way Maisys a netherland dwarf and very tiny :D

Eeek! Glad shes ok now! Do you have pic of the type of run it was. Thinkin' about gettin a metal panel on of ebay, just wanna make sure its not the same, so my bun dont get stuck too.

Put some fine mesh or something similiar around the lower edges of them, that will stop future problems.

It is this sort of run, but not necessarily this one, some have smaller holes than others, just beware before you buy the size in comparison to your rabbits head, the other thing to look at is the height of the panels as some are very short and rabbits can jump over them really easily.

my panels are simulat but they are just over waist high and the run is huge each panel is about 1 metre wide and i have about 8 of these panels  it takes up my whole lawn..

I've got the pws panels - if you look very closely, the holes at either end of each panel are very slightly bigger than the ones in the middle...as I discovered to my cost when I opened the back door one morning to find Santa sitting in the middle of the patio, having squeezed not only her head, but her entire body through! I'd recommend covering them (or approx the bottom foot high) with a finer mesh to prevent tiny buns getting out, and bigger buns from getting their heads stuck.

The run you showed is a good height compared to many you can purchase. It is slightly cheaper at http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Rabbit_Runs.html which is at Hersham near Esher. If you got it from there it is always worth ringing or emailing Mark who runs the company to check it is in stock. I have the smaller ones of these for guiena pigs which are really strong, Rabbit rehome donated ARC 3 of these last Christmas with the boxes shown in the picture. I am really pleased with them.

Wicked! I'll give him a call next week once i get some money in. I can use i on a paved floor right? It doesn't need to me grass so the panels dig in to the ground.

You can put it on concrete, you will find that it has metal bars to put down the corners which usually you push into the grass to help hold it in place, it would work ok on concrete but it wont be held down the same as it would on grass.

   I'm sorry to hear that! Glad the bunny's ok. I didn't even think about that they were used for Toffee and caramel before who are about 4kg each!
