After the vet said she'd be PTS if her abscess came back, I was in a right panic when I noticed pus weeping out of her face last week Other than that she was fine - galloping, pooping and eating like a small horse, and generally in love with life (perfecting the art of spraying wee in mid-gallop! )
Gwen who helps at Maa's old rescue kindly said she'd take her to her vets, but I thought I'd just give my vet one last chance - there's no way I'd agree to have her killed for something as trivial as a bit of pus! So we saw 'nice vet' Julie (not the one who mentioned PTS), who whilst having a knack of making me feel stupid and worthless, is definitely a good vet - and I am a bit useless when it comes to nursing
It took her 3 minutes to clean all the pus out of Maa's abscess! 3 minutes!!!! I persuaded her to give me some metronidazole again for Maa, as well as the ubiquitous baytril, since metronidazole worked last time for her - and she agreed!!!
I was sternly instructed to clean the pus out every day, but so far (day 3) there's been no sign of pus (phhheeeeeeeeewwww! says the wuss ) and Maa is booked in twice next week with Julie, just incase it needs cleaning again - I decided £20 a throw consultation fee was better than throwing Maa into a new environment at Gwen's, with less freedom than she enjoys now - all the stress could have killed her.
So - fingers crossed/prayers said for Maa again - poor girl's had such bad luck since she got that hay stuck in her mouth - although she's looking pretty happy with life I'm glad to say - she's so sweet natured and a real character - I'd miss her so much - she's a bunny with boots on!
