Hi has anyone got a second hand rabbit cage in good condition. We got two rabbits which were meant to be girls but their not i have now found out!!!!!! so now need them in their own cages. cant afford to pay too much(i would have got new if i could!) got to be near deal, kent and as soon as possible. Also is their anyone who knows somewhere in this area that do cheap castration and spaying of rabbits,i phoned vets and it's going to cost more than it cost to have my collie done!! 45.00 male and 55.00 female!!!

if you cant afford them why get them!  apparently the rspca/blue cross or somone  sorry neuters males for about £15, maybe someone could look into that and email them with the info

I've just sent a reply- thanks for the idea about RSPCA Eve.

A bit rubbish and not very technical, but hopefully it'll be useful:

Hello
How old are your two rabbits? If they are over 3 months there is a strong possibility that the doe is already pregnant. They are pregnant for one month, and the buck needs to have been removed before she gives birth, or they will mate again straight away.

In terms of neutering, if you are on a low income then the PDSA may be able to help you. Here's one in Kent, but if its not near enough to you i'd give them a ring to find one a bit closer:
PDSA PetAid hospital
Campus Way
Gillingham Business Park
Gillingham
Kent
ME8 0RR
Tel: 01634 376347
Website: www.pdsa.org.uk

Or, its not well publicised, but the RSPCA can often help with low cost neutering:
KENT (Maidstone): RSPCA Mid Kent, Maidstone & District ~ low cost neutering and assisted veterinary treatment at a weekly clinic for those on benefits or a low income. 72-74 Wheeler Street, Maidstone, Kent. Tel: 01622 812195. Website: www.midkentrspca.com

You could try this as well, worth a call:
KENT (Canterbury): Lord Whisky Low Income Veterinary Clinics: Wealden Woodland Forest Park, Herne Common (Monday and Friday 3 - 4 pm) and Lord Whisky Centre, Rhodes Minnis (Tuesday and Thursday 2 - 3 pm), Tel: 01303 862622 for details, or visit: www.dunwellinternet.com/lordwhisky

If none of these places can help i would call round other vets in the area- the price can vary hugely, but unfortunately it does tend to be more in the south. If you can get to the midlands, this place is very cheap for both vaccinations and neutering: http://www.petvaccinationclinic.com/index.shtml

Here is a list of rescue centres in Kent also:
http://www.rabbitrehome.org.uk/centres.asp#Kent

If you need more advice, the forum on this website is excellent: www.rabbitrehome.org.uk
(also if you need to rehome possible babies you can list them)

For the hutch/cage...have you thought about looking on ebay? Or freecycle? Freecycle is a webiste where people give away and ask for things, for free- there are several groups in Kent: http://www.freecycle.org/display.php?region=United Kingdom

Please be wary of the kind of hutch people may give you though...would be horrible for them to be stuck in a 3ft one.

Hope this helps
Mandy
