****HELP****
What do we need the funds for?
Well, we need to be able to have the funds to pay vets bills and to keep going. We are not asking for your help on a whim, we only ask for help when we really need it. We are not asking for things that can be put off like updating hutches etc, but to carry on with the rescue.

How many photos can we send in?
3 maybe, that way some of the photos could be themed ie spring, xmas easter etc
KatieB

The £1.50 is per photo entered. So its completely up to how many you want to send in. Seasonal photos would be fun, but black and white, buns eating, sleeping are also great.
Sorting out paypal now!

Hi
Just to let people know we still need more entries to make up the calendar!
Also we have just had some bad news- Myx outbreak not too far away so we need to vacinated as many as possible we need more than £200, so far we have raised £40- which is fantastic but a long way off!
Sarah
15-09-2006, 01:34 PM
I replied to one of your rehoming threads on 30th August that there was myxo in the area - could your vet not vaccinate them all and then pay off in instalments?
Sarah
KatieB
17-09-2006, 12:14 PM
No our vet will not do this and we DO NOT in anyway have the funds. We always help out other rescues and pleas for help no matter whether we have saved for something for us- it all goes on the rabbits.
We have had an extremely busy weekend- Helping OTHER people out. :(
9 came in yesterday- 2 babies really underweight- didn't think they would make it through the night, 1 lop with large chunk of his nose missing, 1 black and brown with long nails, 5 lionheads covered in wee and poo, their feet turned orange!- whew! oh and picking one black up from a lady in St Martins today because the owners just left them when they moved and its partner had been run over.
Sarah i know that you are not getting at the rescue as you are probably aware of how HARD we work and how emotionally exhausting it is. Any suggestions of how we can raise the money needed are welcome.
Katie
Sarah
17-09-2006, 09:36 PM
Hi Katie
No I am not getting at anyone - simply that I live not far from you and I am aware that there is myxo in the area - I was just letting you know, as I would with anyone else who I knew had bunnies around here. I take in rescue buns myself and certainly some of the ones I have had this year have had quite major health problems. I have just come to expect that a large part of my salary goes on them!!
How many bunnies do you have at present to vaccinate?
Sarah

Well I've entered Santa so that's definitely one of the 12 months covered  - I managed to email some photos across just before my laptop died, I'll pop a cheque in the post tomorrow :D
KatieB
18-09-2006, 08:22 AM
Hi
Yes i know you weren't getting at anyone. We don't spend ANY money on ourselves, i can't remember the last time a bought a new top or went out for a meal, each time we get paid it immediately goes on paying for vets bills and food etc.
At present we have 14 that need both injections, if people brought in healthy rabbit i think we would be able to vacinate at least one rabbit a month, but out of the ones brought in on Sat 3 need vet treatment this week and another one of them is going to need an op. Thats where our money goes.
I think its great that you help out rescues, not many people actually physically do as that is where most of the hardwork lies.
I would love not to have any rabbits coming in and not be able to run the rescue because they all had great homes. I don't think that this will be anytime soon.
At the moment i have to admit i am feel emotional and physically ehausted. - No a happy bunny at the moment. :(
Sarah
18-09-2006, 01:58 PM
Which vets do you use? Have you asked for a discount on vaccs as you are a rescue?
Sarah
KatieB
18-09-2006, 06:29 PM
Hi
We have tried all the vets in our area. The vets we have at the moment is excellent with the level of care and aftercare. Even not being cross when i ring at 3am in the morning if a bunny has been dumped!
Hope this helps.

Hi Guys
Calendars and other prizes will be sent out end of the week- having printing probs!
Calendars will be £2.50 and will be on sale from the end of the week too.
Unfortunately the rescue will be closing, we only raised £50, despite press coverage, community support has been non existant. I think has to do with the fact we only have rabbits and alot of people here see them as vermin not pets.
We will be keeping the sanctuary open as we have 9 in total now!
Sprout-Giant,
Penny/Guiness/Skittles/Cheeky and shadow all live together
Star and Sage who is 8 and only has 1 tooth and prob eyes!
Any money rasied from the sale of the calendars will go to the care of the sanctuary rabbits.
With the financial aspect as well as people turning up in our house/garden and lack of support it has just got too much.
Thanks to everyone who has helped and supported us.
Katie, Nick and all the buns x

I have only just seen this posting. I am so sorry to read about Bowden. It must be so hard for you to put your hands up and say we cannot continue. But you have to think of all the bunnies you have helped in the past and thats what it was about. Maybe once you have had a break, I am sure you will use your great expertise to help rabbits in whatever capacity you can manage. It may not be a rescue at this moment. It must have been so stressful for you, wanting to continue and yet being unable to financially and my heart goes out to you. Take carexxxxx

20-10-2006, 09:37 AM
Katie I'm sorry you feel you have to close..finances are always a big worry we all face.
Perhaps you could spend a few months concentrating on fundraising and then take in just 2 buns at a time for homing? I know it's difficult to turn rabbits away but if you could help 2 at a time it's better tha none.
You obviously care so much it's such a shame...good luck in whatever you decide and hope to see you as a rescue in the near future. xx

Firstly- I have sent these out twice now. Have had to buy another £100 gift vouchers and teddys.
I could understand people being annoyed if i just not sent them out.
Those who do not receive their prizes by Monday, please ring me: 01352 780402.
I have been really upset about having to close the rescue as it was not a decision i came to lightly and people making upseting and hurtful comments have upset me even more- so thanks.

Hi Katie,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with the post, did you get certificates of posting - these are free of charge. As if you did you are entitled to upto £29 compensation per packet from Royal Mail.
I'm looking forwards to receiving the calender soon, and I'm sure your buns do appreciate all your good work.

Katie,
It would be extremely odd if everyone's calendars got lost in the post - one or two maybe. Where did you send them from?
I'd echo Apache's comments - make sure you get the receipt from the post office, and if they go missing, you can claim the money back from the Royal Mail.
I'm sorry if you thought my comments were hurtful, but I had emailed on the 8th, and was still to hear anything by the 13th (still haven't actually), so I assumed that I wouldn't hear anything at all.
If it's any help, I'd be interested in seeing a piccy of the calendar so that I could order more (if you're still doing more?).
Regards,
Anna

Hiya Katie,
Might it be worth sending these out recorded delivery? At least then they can be tracked if something goes wrong :(
Calanders, teddies and vouchers shouldn't cost that much more than normal post to send recorded and then hopefully that might work better.
Good luck and best wishes
Laura
KatieB
17-11-2006, 09:38 AM
I have always been honest and put myself out for everyone on this site and anyone needing help.
If i tell everyone i sent them out - i sent them out. Each parcel cost £1.60 normal post. The Royal Mail can't do anything because they weren't recorded. The cost for these being sent recorded is £4.60.
The Calendar comp has now ended up costing me alot more than what was raised. Unlike some people i have honored my agreement to give out prizes no matter what.
I have always made my phone number acessable and it is always on the bottom of the posts.
I am not the type of person to just not send any or 'say' 'claim' that i have sent them out.
As for email, the website is no longer up and therefore nor is email. The account is still active but since the rescue closed i have stopped using it, otherwise why would i 'ignore' emails?
As i said before if prizes haven't arrived by Monday please 'Call' me.
If i haven't heard anything by Tuesday i will assume that all have been received. And the phone number will subsequently be changed.
I am upset and very hurt that people think this little of me after all the bun runs, rescues and help i have offered and given.

Katie,
I'm sorry everything has gone wrong for you. I personally think that you were very generous in the prizes you offered considering the lack of response you received for the competition.
Post can get lost very easily unfortunately. Last year I bought eight items off Ebay and four of those never turned up. The senders did have proof of posting so I knew that they had been sent, but once again the Post Office failed in its duty.
Hope all goes well with whatever you decide to do next.

Received this morning. Thank you very much.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm only trying to help, but to have so many packages go missing I honestly think you should complain to the Royal Mail (even if you can't get any money back) because it should be fairly easy for them to track down who or how it went missing (there seems to be too much fraud in the system at the moment).
Also - it doesn't have to be recorded delivery to be covered insurance wise. Standard first class post is covered up to 32ukp (see here question 3: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=400029&mediaId=3500015#12500220)
This definitely works because i've claimed for it before.
Now if i'm right, you have sent my current package first class, so maybe you still have the receipt from the last lot? (although i'm not sure how it works with a franking account).
Anyway - if you had said something, I would have told you to save the money on the screen select voucher - it's very much appreciated, but I understand if it's gone missing in the post, and wouldn't want you to be out of pocket. If you pm me your address, I'll send it back to you.

Picked up my parcel from the sorting office yesterday :D - thanks alot, sorry you had such a problem with the postage Katie - there must be something Royal Mail can do?
For people asking about getting copies of the calendars - a word of warning - DONT try to order from the rescues website, its been closed/ removed and is redirected to something NOT at all related to the rescue. Seriously, don't try it especially if you have kids/ your parents watching over your shoulder.

Hi Guys!
Yes we closed the website because we kept getting weirdos ringing up all the time!
Had a message that someone else had taken over the name- Please don't go on as some Freaks have a really sick website on that address now.
Anyone wanting to place orders for the calendars please email me on- nickkatie_alltheanimals@hotmail.co.uk.
All money goes to the sanctuary- £2.50 per calendar, orders up to 10 are postage free after that i will have to charge!
Thanks x

Hi Katie,
Many thanks for resending mine, the calender is lovely.
Although I think the original turned up yesterday, and looking at the post mark, it has taken well over a month to travel the vast distance from Chester to Lancashire!
Thanks again
Julia
