  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Alfred is at the vets

He's been a bit quiet since yesterday, and I noticed one side of his face was wet, it was still wet 90 mins later. I tried to dry it off and then saw he was wet under his chin.

He was still eating and drinking, although not eating quite as much, and his poo's a bit runnier.

I managed to get an appt this afternoon, and the vet thinks it's his teeth, so I've had to leave him in, as they want to make sure he is eating properly before I can bring him home.

I can hopefully collect him late morning.

Thanks everyone, it seems so strange without him :(

I've not heard anything from the vets, I've got to ring after 10:30 in the morning, to see how everything is, and hopefully find out when I can pick him up.

Feel guilty as I didn't think to take any of his food in, and they don't have SS, so he'll have an upset tummy for a few days when he gets back..

Thanks everyone, he's back now :D :D :D

We had a big cuddle in the car, and I've put him back in the hutch with Matilda (sorry I think that's the final name for her!), she had a sniff at him, and went back down to the run.

He seems a bit quiet, but I think he was quiet for a day or too last time he had his teeth done.

I'm much happier now :D

Awww he'll be back to normal in no time. My Zippy goes in for her dental next Tuesday, I'm going to be a bg of nerves then  .

Thanks - he is currently sat next to Matilda munching his hay.

Looks like he is going to need 4 weekly dentals - such is life, but he is worth it..
