Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Toe Nails keep Breaking

holder

Alpha Buck
Hi every one i just wondered if there is any one who rabbits nails keep breaking off, they are not breaking in half it is the whole nail that is falling of. I have just found one of Honeys nails on the carpet & that is her fourth one to break off, is that normal!!
i am worried now has the last time she started to bite at the toe untill it was bleeding & she went though hell but now it has healed up & she has left it a lone now, but she keeps licking the toe where the nail has come of but it seems fine just now.

Sound a bit funny, are you sure there not getting caught in the carpet? otherwise id wonder if your bun had a problem to do with weak nails, perhaps something to do with calcium. Id ring the vet for advise on it. val

I know it does sound funny & its a worry, Honey is at the vets on Thrusday for her weekly penicillin injection, i hope its nothing to do with that has she has been on that now for the last couple of months, but i will call them in the morning to ask them its better to be save then sorry.
I really don't think its the carpet but i will be watching her even so now, she has them cut down every 4weeks at the vets, but you never know it could be just that.
Thank you taylor v 109
