The Buns were spayed today

Rubs, Minnie and Tink were all spayed today, it went well as they were eating straight away after waking up! That's my girls!

We've got them in the lounge tonight in a puppy pen with their carrier inside it. They've been out a little bit and have eaten quite a lot (their pellets, some carrot, brocolli and parsley, but don't seem to have drunk very much at all. usually I fill their large water bottle up about 3 times a day but they've only had about a centimetere since coming home at 4pm. is that okay?

The nurse saisd to check the scar 3 times a day but what exactly am I checking for? Just that it looks clean?

Thanks

Great news that they're doing ok! Have you given them a bowl as well as a bottle - most buns will drink more if offered a bowl after an op, it's less effort when they are still feeling a little drowsy.

Checking the wound is basically just seeing that it doesn't look infected and that it hasn't come open - some buns will keep on trying to pick at it. Also just keep a close eye to see that they are eating, pooping and behaving normally (well, a little quiet is to be expected, but not acting as if they are in pain). It sounds as if all has gone to plan - fingers crossed for a quick recovery!

Good idea will put a bowl in now.

Had a quick look at Ruby (mum) and her scar looks fine, the other two are hiding away at the back of the carrier at.

They're pooing and weeing lots so it's all looking good. :)

Thanks
