  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help needed again with Honey

holder

Alpha Buck
Well it is ten past one in the morning & the problems have started again, i took Honey back to see her usual vet last monday & she was pleased when the bandage come off, her toe was healing lovely & also her abscess has started to drain, so an other appointment was made for thursday to have the bandage taken off & checked over.
I was just getting ready to go to bed & checked her bandage & saw blood on it, i had to wake my son up to help me to get the bandage of to see what she had done to herself, well it made me ill has she has 2 little holes on the side of her foot where she has bite though the bandage, we cleaned her up & put some of the gel (from the vet) on the holes & bandaged it up again she has had pain killer this morning & i have give her half to what she normally has just now.
My son told me to put some thing on the bandage that would taste nasty to her but i said no has it might harm her, but do you know if there is any thing we could put on it to make it taste bad so she would not bite at it or would it make her start to bite at her other legs!!!!!
Oh god i only wish i had worked a lot hard at school all them years ago & become a vet then this wouldn't be a problem I would know what to do. :(
