Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Neutering advice

Hi, advice needed re: neuteing. I have two rabbits Lily and Billy, Billy is a very nervous rabbit who i have had for nearly four months after i found him on a very busy main road. He was very underweight and dirty and extremely nervous. He does not like being handeled and will not settle in a hutch. He now lives in a large shed in the garden and has full access to the garden in the day. With time and patience he will now take food from my hand and allow me (occasionally) to rub his nose. He will need to be nuetered but i am dreading taking him to the vets because i fear the stress will kill him. I also have Lily who is just over three months, i plan to bond them once spaying/neutering is over as Lily is friendly and lively and i hope some of this will rub off on Billy. Lily will be spayed when she reaches six months. They are seperated at the moment, Lily lives in a large two tiered hutch with 8ft run. Do i need to have BIlly nuetered once Lily is spayed? if so, any advice for getting Billy through this stressful procedure? thanks in advance.

Yes you do need to get him done otherwise he wont leave your girl alone. He will be fine going to the vets to be done, it is a bit stressfull but ive never lost one that was scared. he will get over it.Dont worry . val

He sounds the same as my Hobbes. He has always been a nervous bunny but he copes really well at the vets and got through his neutering without any problems. I'm sure Billy will be fine. I'd get him booked in as soon as possible just so you don't get any accidents!

O.k will be brave and book the appointment for him to go, does he go for a check up first or can i just book a date for him to go in for the op? Will be really worried when he goes. :( :(
