  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vaccination question

Marlon's VHD is due nowish and Bella's at the end of the mont. Do you think it would be okay to leave Marlon's until the end of the month too so I don't have to make separate vet trips?
They're both permanent house buns so I'm fairly sure the risk of him picking up VHD is limited.
They're going for their Myxi in the middle of this month too so I'd rather only be going to the vets twice than three times.
Opinions? Ta.

I'm pretty sure that would be ok, don't blame you only wanting to make two trips, and agree the risk of VHD is tiny.

What I'd probably do though, just in case, is to bring Bella's injection forward to Marlon's date, so she has it early, rather than Marlon having his late.

Just a thought :D

That's what I was going to say!! :D

It gets complicated with the myxi needing doing too though.
I think I'll book them in for the myxi early next week and then the VHD for two weeks later. That makes Bella's one week early and Marlons three weeks late.

Thank you for your reassurances!
