  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Gabbie looks like the scruffiest rabbit I have ever seen!!! She seems to be having a massive moult,is this normal? She was at the vets last week to have her teeth done and she had a general check over and she's very healthy (I'm told) but she's got big tufts of fur coming out! She was binkying round the garden last night and the fur was flying off her! Sylvie doesn't seem to be the same :? she just has a big tuft of fur on her nose that makes her look like she's got a horn growing! Oh I do love my odd twosome

Sophie just had a huge malt and it lasted ages!!!!

She ended up having kittymalt everyother day cus of her stringy poops!!!

Poos are looking lovely thankfully   In fact I said to my husband the other day "aren't these the best poos you've ever seen"! I won't repeat what his reply was  I'll keep an eye out for any changes  Did the fur come out of Sophie in clumps? there is so much fur on her blanket it could make another rabbit!
Showing my ignorance I know but what's kitty malt? Where can I get it from and what do I do with it,thanks alot :D

I try to brush my buns once a day, I guess it depends on whether you have long haired animals or not. My dutchies have tufts that come out, but nothing that falls out when they have the binkies :)

Thanks,I comb them every day maybe I need a better brush to sort her out! Her binkies are very energetic!!! and it was like a shower of fluff everytime!
