  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vaccination

I was reading the bit on here about the vaccination Twinkle has a spot on her neck and her ear and i have just read that is where the vaccination is done do you think that means she has been done already if so will a vet be able to tell and if he can't could there be any side effects for her having it again

Where did you get twinkle from as if it was a rescue or a breeder they would have told you whether she had been vaccinated or not and you would have been given a vaccination card. Chances are if you got her from a pet shop then she will definately not been done. I would phone who or wherever you got your bun done to check.

she was posted on the board in my local tesco and i have lost the number I will take her to the vets next week she needs her nails clipped anyway and he can check then

The vet wont be able to check if she has been previously vaccinated without knowing who her previous vet was, it wont do her any harm to have the vaccines XX

I would get the vaccines done anyway. I know this may sound pretty detrimental to the previous owners but chances are they won't have had her vaccinated as the numbers of buns that come into rescue have rarely or if ever been vaccinated. I would phone your vet and ask can the vaccinate her while she is in having her nails clipped.
