  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Not sure about the doe, but the kits can be jabed from 6 weeks old.

another fortnight then  and how do i get a doe down to the vets whos nursing two week old kits

I wouldn't myxi jab the doe until she is older, I'm not sure it would be safe in a nursing doe + I wouldn't want to stress her and her kits out.

In a ferplast type cage I guess! Won't the boys be separated out of the litter by then? All sounds like a bit of a mission though

 That is a lot of rabbits to deal with!
Unless half of the rabbits are taken one day and the other half are taken on a different day maybe? :?

aaaah didnt realise you were talking about that bunny and babies. hmmm maybe once the older babies are old enough they could get jabbed. Then when the 2nd litter are old enough they could go with mum for jabs? Or ask the vet to come to you?

I have previously advised against getting a 'feeding' mother vaccinated and to wait until the youngest babies are old enough to get vaccinated, the older group of babies will probably be weaned by this stage and hopefully will be off to their new homes around this date. I would get the older babies done as soon as they are six weeks old.
