Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

yesterday evening to our much suprise beebee my lop gave birth  to 5 bunnies!!!!! we can only assume that our naughty jack (our only un-neutered male) turned on his charm  well she didnt make a nest until the day and she left them out of the nest and ignored them we tried our best but 4 died and 1 little poor baby was very weak! i called my friend who is a vetenary nurse and we careful got the 1 baby into the nest but this morning we lost it  what do u think would have made beebee reject her litter? also beebee is due for neutering how long is it best to leave her before she has the op as its due on friday should i re-book?

From what I have read, 1st litters are rarely successful :(

I don't think it would have been anything you did hun xxx

she has had a previous litter which was a large litter of 4 and she was a wonderful mum thats what shocked me so much  i bought her inside today and she sat on the sofa with me very subdude i gave her loads of fuss she looks very confused :?

How sad, but its true that there could have been any number of reasons why they died, cold is the first if they were out of the nest. Trouble giving birth can lead to dead babys as they suffacate before there free of the birth canal. If your not sure of the date of mating they could have been early, due to pehaps being picked up.They could have been late even and died before being born. So i could go on its not worth thinking about it. Its sad  but perhaps for the best as they wernt planed. Mums get over this very quickly she wont worry. I would ring your vet and check about your spay appointment. val

thank you, i have been trying to think of a particular time when jack would have been able to get to her  cheeky devil! there are so many reasons i guess it was a shock to me she wasnt any bigger than she usually is too!

Friday is too soon to spay her. I had a doe give birth to a stillborn litter a few weeks ago and the vet said to wait about three weeks as with the pregnancy the blood flow to the area is increased and so the surgery becomes riskier.

It's rubbish about 1st litters not being successful it depends on the doe. All my first litters have gone without problems. Chances are she was scared or disturbed and that's why she scattered them. Some does just don't make good mums, some seem to have the instinct perfectly.
I tend to intervene a lot with my babies, I check them twice a day etc and ensure they're all in the nest.
Unfortunately, there was nothing you could have done, if you don't know when she was mated, they could have been born too early and that's why they died.

I'm pretty sure you can get her neuterred straight away, but check with the vet.

thank you im gonna wait a month before getting her spayed just to be safe she seems to be a bit more happier today and wanted lots of fuss, i was mostly worried because her first litter which we planned for she was a wonderful mum and she doted on them and she was so upset when they went, thank you all for ur advice it has been very much appreciated! :D
