Hi!

I've just been clearing out my hutch, for Flopsy and Sophie :? Noticed fur building up in the crevices around the sides of the hutch.
I guess rabbits malt like cats. Is it the season now? I know Sophie likes to groom Flopsy and vicer versa.

There are clumps of loose fur on the back of the rabbit coat near the tail. I guess this is normal?

Sorry

Zoe

Sounds perfectly normal to me :D Mine are all moulting like mad at the moment and it is getting everywhere, and they have clumps half hanging off as well :D

Hi Zoe!! :D
Lots of my Buns are moulting too. Yes, it is normal. You can really help your Buns by grooming them every day during a moult. Especially around the area you mentioned, where their lil' tail meets their body :D
Grooming them daily will reduce the risk of them ingesting lots of fur which can cause tummy problems. Also, grooming your Buns will give you a chance to check them for any 'lumps and bumps' and to have some one-to-one time with them.
:D :D

The tufts around the tail are usually lose fur caught is the coat and you can just pull them out with your fingers, when they are really moulting sometimes it works better just to pluck the lose fur out like that as it's too much for a comb to manage. Once you've got all the tufts out you can then go over it with a comb. You'll ge ridiculas amounts out, beprepared for a pile the size of you rabbit... it's perfectly normal

Yup, Squidgy looks like a ragamuffin the moment. Fur everywhere!

Heehee thank you! Yeah my cat gets the same at times. I do groom them now and again, but I should make the point of doing this more frequently.

I think my dad just made me concerned by saying how Sophie was grooming Flopsy too OTT. I think she's just giving him love.
