Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fur

Frankie

Young Bun
Hi, I’m new to this forum and i need some advice.

I have a baby Flemish giant and I’m having a problem with the fur on her chest. it feels like a really lose matt as it is really easy to brush out with a comb. However, I’ll spend about 20 minutes getting all these little matt’s out only for them to grow back almost twice as bad the next day.

Has anybody any idea what might be causing this problem or what i can do to help it?

Sounds like she's having a moult!
It wont go on forever and daily grooming will help you bond with her :D
As long as there is no evidence of mites (white scaley dandruff and itching) then the grooming will keep on top of any big mats of fur and once her moult is over the problem should resolve :D

She had mites when i first had her which i took her to the vets about and they gave her some meds for it, it all cleared up real well but these matt's are nothing like when she went bold bless her!
I hope it will go away, its so sad seeing so much fur coming out. :(
