Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Update on Cotton's mobility problems

Zan

New Kit
Cotton has been improving every day and can now even hop. She is still a bit wobbly, but if she falls over she can get back up herself. Huge improvement--the poor bun was just lying on her side all the time before. She's in a wired off pen within the byre where the other rabbits live, and I've been plonking her down beside them for a bit of mutual grooming every day to keep the bond. The trouble is there are four steps up out of the byre to their run, so don't know when I will feel safe to risk her back out with them :? And the other problem is Robert the newbie is obviously going to have to stay seperate for the time being because I can't risk her chasing him and hurting herself again.Such a shame because he didn't do anything wrong.

Glad to hear she's improving :) Perhaps you could build a temporary ramp over the steps. If you make it longer than the steps it could be quite a gentle slop. Maybe add sides so she can't take a short cut and jump down.
