Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I'm posting this for a lady that emailed me earlier today, I'll pass on the replies to her:

Hello,

I wonder if you could give me some advice.

We brought two girl rabbits last year but it has since come to our attention that they are boy and girl! Four weeks ago the Doe had a little of 5, 4 of which survived. As soon as we found the babies we worked out which rabbit was male and removed him. We was to late as we found out today as she has had another litter, this time she had 10, 8 of which so far have survived. I am unsure what to do with regards to separating the old babies with the new babies. I have been given two lots of advice and both were different!

The Male is booked in [to be neutered] and has been apart from her since we found the babies!!

We are in the same situation as you as our dutch doe has just had her second litter in 2 months.

one thing to be aware of is that the mum can get calcium deficiency after 2 pregnancies and the associated lactating in such a short time.

We have been feeding her good quality hay, calcium rich veggies ie kale, spring greens, spinach and broccoli. supa for junior & dwarf is also specialised for pregnant and lactating does.

good luck with them all!

Eva
