Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lump on nose

Angie65

Wise Old Thumper
Gorgeous little dumped bunny - who's 2 friends died has a lump on her nose. Looks as if she's been bit - by an insect or something. Any ideas? I picked her up Saturday(no obvious lump then), & she got it on Sunday. Grrr. Vet checked her yesterday & she's off again tonight. She's breathing fine, but is quiet though I don't know her well enough to know if this is her normal self. She's eating broccoli, spinach & hay, though only just getting her on pellets slowly.

Anything we should do?

Would you know if she's Myxo Vaccinated :?

Have you checked her 'girly bits' today?

If the lump has a sort of scab on it could it be Treponamatosis (Rabbit Syphllis) :? She might have similar lesions on the inner part of her vulva too.

Hope it is nothing of consequence and will just disappear.

She's a dumped bunny only 9 - 11 weeks old (Vet's est). She lived at a Vets all last week, so hopefully anything serious would've been spotted then? We have an appointment at 6pm tonight, so will get em to check everything!

Will do!!

She went to vets & he thinks she's scratched it/cut it. Swelling has gone down now, Vet gave her an anti-biotic jab, & I've to give her baytril & some powder in her feed everyday. There's no infection at the minute, but he just said to keep an eye on it. Baytril hasn't put her off her food anyway!
