  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Well i posted on here a few weeks again as i thought my bun had a hernia so yestarday of i went of to the vets to have them checked over and the first bun past with flying colours, then when i got out the other bun i explain to the vet that i thought she may have a hernia. Well the first thing she did was try and sex her and to both our suprise we discovered that i have a mixed sex rabbit the vet had only seen one other case of this, and they think she is a female that has some form of testical mass which is what the lump is. i am so glad that i took her to the vets as they vet would not say that she was 100% that there would be a small chance that she could mate and be succesful but the fact they are nearly a year old and nothing has happen i am hoping this will stay the case but needless to say she is now booked into be spayed as soon as possible but the vet has warn that the operation may be more difficult as they are not sure what they will find when they go in,i just hope she will be ok.
Just wondering if anyone out there has heard of this and what happen when they had they spayed.

I was told the bun I bought (supposed to be a doe) was a hermaphrodite by the breeder as she couldn't accept that she was wrong! The vet was sure it was a boy!

That is so cool! Imagine when friends come over and ask...

"Oh you have bunny rabbit, is it a he or a she?"

and you reply...

"both"

This might be a bit weird but...I wonder if you had 2 rabbits like that bonded if they could both fall pregnant???????
