  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Archie is poorly

Poor Archie has been to the vets tonight is off his food and full of gas. I am very worried about him, he stole a bit of easter egg yesterday (it fell on the floor and he pinched it as I was clearing it up) and its obviously made him feel yucky, hes had liquid parafin and is on fibreplex (probiotic and fibre mix - carrot flavour). Smokie doesnt know what to do with herself as he is the cheeky nosey one and shes a bit out of sorts watching him sit there quietly. Pls send healing vibes this way for my ginger boy!

Awww poor Archie!

Have you tried giving him a tummy massage Hannah?

Sending lots of healing vibes to you and Archie!

No pain relief, maybe I should have asked that. Have been doing tummy massages and he has finally worked out what I am doing and doesnt seem to mind too much, I have never prayed so much for a bunny f**t before

Can you get some Infacol Hannah :?
Supermarkets sell it in the Babycare Section.
Giving 2mls of it then some tummy rubs might help disperse the gas in Archie's tum.
You can repeat the dose an hour later.
Come on Archie we want some bunny f*rts!!

Nicolar - I use Wheelhouse in chesham, they have always been very good.
Thanks guys, Archie is feeling a bit better, he has had a few pellets and a drink (probably to take away the nasty parafin taste) and has set to work destroying a chube. Fairly certain the boy has been f**ting like a trooper, smokie was sat by his bum and suddenly shot off with a horrified look, oh yeah and there is a strange aroma in the living room

Will be keeping a close eye on Archie and making sure he eats/f**ts/is back to normal bunny behaviour - will keep you updated

Hes a lot better now thanks guys, back to his usual food loving, happy self, keeps waiting for veggies though cos he's on hay and pellets only for a few days
