Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

kayj

Wise Old Thumper
Poppy has been urinating blood and after having antibiotics for a week and metacam, she is still urinating with blood so she is having xrays next week as it looks like she as stones bless her as her bladder feels quite thick in places.

Awwww poor Bun. Hope that despite her bladder probs she is still bright within herself.
Lots of positive vibes for Poppy.
I use Cranberry Extract in the water of my 'Bladder Prob' Buns. Seems to help soothe the bladder.

Poppy goes in in the morning for her xrays, I am glad to say that she as been running around the garden this weekend like somebunny not right. The blood seems to have stopped now too. Poppy is the agouti one, it's the one that was out when you picked up Tilly.

Aww yes, The digger. Good luck tomorrow baby, Get better for Mum xx

Poppy's xrays were perfectly clear (Thank God) however she seems to have quite large blood vessels in the vulva which could have burst and was causing the bleeding. If she gets it again then I have to take her straight back and they will xray straight away to see where the blood is actually coming from. They have sent samples of urine off to be checked, just to be on the safe side.
