Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Some advice please.

Hi everyone

I have just bought a new hutch for my two lops, who are now bonding
well. (fingers crossed). So thought I would put them into a new hutch where neather of them have lived before. Nice up and down hutch , but the thing is they will not come down the rump! They will go up, if I put them in the bottom section but no way are they happy to go down. So they are spending there whole time on one floor, when the idea was to give them more space. Is there something I can do to the rump to help them? (rump is made of wood) or in time will they get uset to using it?They have only been in it 2 nights now.
Thank you all for your time.

Hi Carol
Have you tried putting treats on each rung on the ladder so they follow the trail? This worked with my two.
I am sure they will get the knack of it once they have been up and down a few times.
You could also try covering the ramp with hay.
Good luck :D

My bun wouldn't go near the ramp so I started putting him in the bottom of the hutch, once he realised going up wasn't scary, he wasn't bothered about going down it either.

Thanks to everyone, my two little boy's are now moving around their two leavel hutch independently.
I removed the ramp, and added a box instead, so they can happily jump up and down.
Thanks once again.
