  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sorry another question!

Hi sorry I only ever seem to come on here to ask questions as I never have any advice to give! I've gone out to my girls this am and had a bit of a cuddle (not much as they are very nervy!) and as I felt gabbie's tail it felt like dried wee(?) on it she seems fine in every other way.I thought she looked thinner the other day but she's eating, drinking and bouncing around just the same as ever. She probably just looks thinner next to Sylvie who shall we say does tend to get her fair share of the food! Back to Gab's tail what's the best thing I should do? Should I leave it or try somehow to clean it!! bearing in my mind she hates being picked up and I don't want to stress her if I don't have to.Thanks for any advice anyone can give, sorry I've rambled on a bit.

What breed is she as some of the larger rabbits have trouble cleaning themselves and you may need to do it for her. As the weather's not so bad I'd check her this evening and if it's still there wash it off with some cotton wool and warm water or white vinger (just don't touch any of her sensitive parts with this) Just be aware that this will be more of a problem when the warm weather hits as it will attract flys and could lead to fly strike.

Thanks for reply :D I think she's a bit of a cross breed (she's the brown one in my sig) don't really know as she was from RSPCA and they didn't know??!! She does keep herself clean (thankfully) and manages to get into positions you can only imagine!!! I check them everyday for dirty bums (well as best I can) as I worry to death about flystrike,is this a risk with dried wee too? sorry for my ignorance
