The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Giving tablets to rabbits

OK how do I do this then  I have a different antibiotic to try, and it's in tablet form. I'm guessing that crushing and giving it with something yummy is the way forward, but I'm not really sure what to put it with - I don't want to upset her tummy because of a combination of antibiotics and nice yummy sugary foods :? Ideally I'd like it to be something that I can offer her to take from me, rather than have to try and mix it with liquid and syringe it, because she's starting to lose trust in me as I keep on having to catch her and feed her medicines.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks xx

Thanks! I'm gonna see if she will take some porridge, she has lost weight so I'm not worried about that. I'll go and start soaking it now :D

I ground Maa's tablets between 2 spoons, and mixed the powder with some cooled, mushed up pellets - she gobbled it down no problem :)

i had a syringe type thing from the vets when jack had tablets. you put the tablet between a claw and then use it like a syringe. i had no problems with that.

they make pill poppers now you can get them at the vet, there great. The pill slots in at the top you put the tube in the mouth them press the plunger and the pills at the back of the mouth easy. . val

what antibiotics is santa on alision?
Errr I can't remember, something like remoxan (edit: just checked - it's Ronaxan) can't remember off the top of my head, it's used for pasteurella in dogs but is apparently safe for long term use in rabbits and she says she has used it to very good effect.

Do pill poppers work on rabbits then, I wasn't sure they had the same swallow reflex as cats?

You can also try hiding the tablet in banana. If the tablet is big then chop it into a few smaller pieces and just mush it into a few pieces of banana.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, crushing it into porridge seems to be working well at the moment. The hardest part is keeping Dudley away from it while she's eating
