  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Thank you for the warning!

Is there a site that I could refer to for more information, or get updates from? I'd like to share this info with others.

somone mentioned that vets can vacinate against myxi from 6 weeks. i thought they would only vacinate from 8?
anyone confirm?

Thanks Val - I'm guessing the second of those places should read DANBURY, that's a town about 5 miles from Maldon. Mine are all vacc'd but I'd better be careful as vhd can travel, and I am currently in Maldon at work

6 weeks for Myxo.
12 weeks for VHD. If an outbreak of VHD occurs babies under 12 weeks can be vaccinated but another full dose must be given 3 MONTHS LATER to ensure a full immune response is achieved. This info came from the manufacturers of 'CYLAP' the VHD Vaccine.

Am confused as to whether this is Maldon and Danbury too - very close to me. :( Mine have had their myxi vaccinations now, but am taking them to have their VHD ones next week.
