new bunny questions?

New Kit
Hi

I thought I was pretty knowledgable about house bunnies having read loads on the net before taking the plunge and buying one. Turns out I've got loads of questions.

When we first got him he used his litter tray for wees but now he has started using another part of his cage. The favoured corner is inside a covered 'hidey hole' part that came with the cage and its too small to fit a litter tray. Does he need his hidey hole part or can I take it out so there is room for a tray?

Also should I give him a few weeks to settle in here before taking him to the vets for his jabs or take him ASAP?

Now my mind has gone blank and I can't think of anything else.

Thanks

Annii

Hello :D
Your bun will need a hidey hole to retreat to so if the one with the cage is too small could you remove it and replace it with an up-turned cardboard box. You can make a sort of opening in it so your bun can have a safe place to hide.
How old is he? He would benefit from having his Myxomatosis jab any time soon as the warmer weather is approaching and the fleas and mozies that spread Myxo will soon be back.
His VHD jab can be done from the age of 12 weeks. The vaccs are usually given two weeks apart.
A regular daily routine, daily handling and a safe environment to retreat to will all help build up your Buns confidence.
Letting him have plenty of supervised time OUT of his cage is important too. Good luck with your new addition :D
