  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My rabbit got ahold of a teeny nibble of one of my pills before I could get ahold of her! It's a Seroquel, which I took for PTSD symptoms. Will she be okay? Does she need a vet? Please answer asap!

OH NO! I'm sorry, I really dont know what you should do. Try calling the vet and getting help over the phone, they should be able to let you know what need. Hope bun bun will be OK!

Definitely call the vet. I know sometimes we worry too much about our buns (like it's possible ;)), but even the smallest amount of medication for humans in a bun could possibly do damage, considering the size difference between us and them, etc.

Like everyone else said, I think you should really call the vet just for the safety of your bunny. Better safe than sorry.
Let us know how your bun is whenever you can.

Hi guys, sorry I didn't respod last night. This class (6-week course condenced into 2) has taken a lot out of me, and I was really worried about her. Her pupils got really dilated and she started shivering. After I posted, I realised that no one would be online for a while, and took her to the emergency animal vet, since my vet's was closed. It was $50, but much better safe than sorry. They checked her out, watched for a bit, and even though she was a bit shakey and unsteady on her legs, the vet said she didn't really ingest enough to hurt her, so I took her home and she's alright. Thank God for bitter medicine tablets!

Thanks for your advice guys! This has been such a tiring week...
